Last week, the Detroit Tigers did what they needed to do against a pair of struggling American League Central counterparts on the road, win the series.
The Tigers ended up going 5-2 for the week that included taking two of three against the Chicago White Sox followed by grabbing three of four over the weekend against the Minnesota Twins.
Detroit’s 73 wins is currently tied for second-most in all of Major League Baseball and are a half-game back of the Toronto Blue Jays for the best record in the American League.
Also, the Tigers were able to extend their league in the A.L. Central as we hit the final two weeks of August:
American League Central Standings
- Detroit Tigers – 73-53
- Cleveland Guardians – 63-60 (8.5 GB)
- Kansas City Royals – 63-61 (9 GB)
- Minnesota Twins – 58-66 (14 GB)
- Chicago White Sox – 44-80 (28 GB)
